Dealing with pests and diseases

You will want to be managing pests and diseases on your crops without the use of pesticides.  However, if you decide to use pesticides as part of your business activities you must at the minimum read the code of practice.  You may require training in the use of pesticides and you will certainly need to have a system in place for storage of pesticides and equipment, for recording pesticide applications and for dealing with spillages and accidents.

If you are an organic producer there are strict limits on the use of pesticides and herbicides set out in your certifier’s standards.
